Treadmill Pace Calculator & Speed Chart
Your plan speaks in pace. Your treadmill speaks in speed. Convert between km/h, mph, min/km and min/mile, then see how far your session takes you.
How to convert treadmill speed to pace
- Select the unit on your treadmill display, or enter a target pace.
- Enter speed as a decimal (for example, 10.5 km/h) or pace as minutes and seconds (for example, 6:00).
- Add your session duration to calculate distance at that constant speed.
- Convert to see all four units. Print your result and the chart below.
Speed is distance per hour; pace is time per kilometre or mile. A bigger speed number means faster running. A smaller pace number means faster running.

Treadmill conversion formulas and examples
Minutes per kilometre = 60 ÷ km/h. At 10 km/h, your pace is 6:00/km. In 30 minutes, you cover 5 km.
Minutes per mile = 60 ÷ mph. At 6 mph, your pace is 10:00/mile, approximately 6:13/km.
km/h = mph × 1.609344. A treadmill showing 8 mph is moving at approximately 12.87 km/h.
To reverse the calculation, convert your pace to decimal minutes first: 5:30/km is 5.5 minutes, so 60 ÷ 5.5 is approximately 10.91 km/h. The calculator handles the seconds for you.
Treadmill pace questions
What treadmill speed is 6:00/km?
Set the belt to 10 km/h, or approximately 6.21 mph. Your treadmill’s available increments may require rounding.
What pace is 6 mph on a treadmill?
Exactly 10:00 per mile, or about 6:13 per kilometre. Over 30 minutes at 6 mph you cover 3 miles (about 4.83 km).
Does incline change the conversion?
This tool converts displayed belt speed, not effort. It does not estimate an equivalent outdoor pace or adjust for incline. The same speed number can feel different as incline changes.
Why does my watch show a different pace?
The treadmill and watch can estimate distance differently. This calculator converts the number you enter; it does not verify either device’s accuracy.
Can I use this for interval sessions?
Convert each interval’s speed separately. The distance result assumes the entered speed stays constant for the full duration; it does not include acceleration, recovery intervals or pauses.
